Determining Available Cash Flow

Available Cash Flow (ACF) is the driver of the price of your business.  ACF is different than profit.  Available Cash Flow is about how much money is left over when the essential businesses expenses are paid.

Another important factor depends on what is happening in your industry.  For example, if a major new technology has been introduced (such as Internet sales), a business with poor ACF may still be able to get a good price if the sale is timed right.  If the new technology is adopted successfully, a highly profitable strategic sale may be achieved.  If, however, the new technology hasn’t been adopted and the sale isn’t timely, the only option left to you may be to liquidate.
